Biocrates is providing tools for a comprehensive insight into pathways and metabolic signatures of diseases (such as neurodegenerative diseases or cancer). All characteristic metabolic properties of a cell, tissue or an organism are described by its metabolome. Metabolomics allows the identification of biological markers serving as early disease indicators and therapeutic markers for the evaluation of treatment effects, facilitating the immediate understanding of deviations from normal. Biocrates enables the reproducible and quantitative analysis of more than 200 endogenous metabolites of several metabolite classes in kit format and more than 630 metabolites as in house lab service.

This metabolomics platform technology enables systematic quantification of many classes of relevant biological metabolites in cells, tissues, or body fluids. The targeted metabolomics approach being pursued by Biocrates was rendered possible by significant advances in mass spectrometry. The technology comprises an automated sample preparation workflow integrated with sensitive mass-spectrometric methods, a tailor-made software solution (MetIDQ Software) which controls sample management, data collection, data validation, and analysis. Biocrates’ technology platform offers LC-MS/MS, FIA-MS/MS and GC-MS quantification of metabolites through Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM), using triple quadrupole mass spectrometers.

AbsoluteIDQ Kits are standardized and quality controlled research assays identifying and quantifying 188 metabolites from five different metabolite classes (amino acids, acylcarnitines, hexoses, biogenic amines and phospho- and sphingolipids).
