Cytena – single cell separation

Cytena is a biotech company developing a proprietary single cell printing (SCP) technology based on an inkjet-like printhead with integrated imaging sensors to enable contact-free deposition of single cells encapsulated in micro-droplets.

Cytena’s single cell printing technology is able to deposit single cells from suspension samples into well plate formats (up to 384-wells). The disposable cartridges allow for direct sample pipetting and prevent cross-contamination. SCP instrument is fully automated and comes with user friendly software. Typical setup time for this Single Cell Printing system is less than 10 minutes. And a 96-well plate filled with a single cell per well can be obtained in a few minutes only. Cells are processed untreated and label-free with an excellent post-process viability. Cytena’s SCP instrument is designed as a flexible, open platform compatible with a wide variety of samples, cell types and substrates. Each single cell is imaged during the printing process, the images being stored on hard drive. These images allow for post-process control of single cell and can be used for post-analysis. This Single Cell Printer technology can be used for cell line development, presenting efficient and fast single cell seeding combined with excellent cell viability. Cytena’s single cell printing technology is also very usefull for single cell genomics (amplification of DNA and RNA from single cells).
Cytena is a biotech company headquartered in Freiburg (Germany). After EU FP7 project PASCA (platform for advanced single cell handling and analysis), the SCP instrument became reality and Cytena GmbH was founded in June 2014. Management Team is composed by Jonas Schoendube, Andre Gross, Benjamin Steimle and Peter Koltay. Advisory Board is composed by Michael Lutz and Roland Zengerle.
