Roslin Cells is committed to provide high quality clinical grade pluripotent stem cells for use in screening of new drug candidates. Roslin Cells has developed expertise and methodologies for the translation of cell therapies from the early fundamental research stage into Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant process suitable for manufacture of product for human application. Roslin Cells also proposes GMP grade pluripotent stem cells including induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) reprogramming service. Roslin Cells‘ iPSC portfolio offers a suite of premium quality services, from selection of donors and tissue procurement through to generation of fully characterized iPSC lines and lineage-differentiated cells. Roslin Cells already derived multiple human embryonic stem cell lines and they were the first to derive a clinical grade hESC line in Europe. Roslin Cells also provides procurement services for many other primary tissue and adult stem cell types.

Roslin Cells was founded in 2006 by the Roslin Institute with the support of the University of Edinburgh (UK), the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) and Scottish Enterprise. Roslin Cells is based at the Edinburgh BioQuarter within the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM). Management Team is composed by Aidan Courtney (CEO), Paul De Sousa (CSO), Janet Downie (COO), Paul Williams, and Kevin Bruce. Roslin Cells has been accredited as ISO 9001 compliant and is licensed by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) in respect of its embryo handling and embryonic stem cell derivation activities. Roslin Cells is also licensed by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) for the testing, processing, storage and distribution of human tissues intended for human application (including pluripotent stem cell lines). Roslin Cells operates on a not-for-profit basis whereby any surplus revenues generated will be reinvested into stem cell research.
