Lentikat – Biocatalyst: encapsulation of enzymes or microorganisms

Lentikat

Lentikats Biotechnology develops an innovative technology for the encapsulation of free enzymes or microorganisms into a porous polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) carrier with a unique lentil-like shape. This biotechnology is called “Lentikats Biocatalyst”. LentiKat is mainly focusing on the development and production of Lentikats Biocatalysts for the pharmaceutical industry, food processing industries, distilleries, wastewater treatment, etc… Indeed, PVA (hydrogel) possesses excellent mechanical and physical characteristics providing long-term mechanical stability, zero toxicity and biologically un-degradable. Thus, Lentikat offers Aldolase for the production of N-acetyl neuraminic acid (sialic acid), but also Whole-cell catalysts (Saccharomyces sp. and Zymomonas mobilis for ethanol fermentation, Candida sp. for xylitol production, Bacillus sp. for lactic acid and butanediol production, Oenococcus sp. for malolactic fermentation, Rhodococcus sp. for nitrile biotransformation, Aspergillus sp. for itaconic and gluconic acid production, Clostridium sp. for butyric acid and propanediol production, etc…), LENTIPRINTER (a laboratory-scale manufacturing device) and Enzyme catalysts (Penicillin G acylase for production of antibiotic precursors, Aminotransferase for L-Phe synthesis, Dextransucrase for oligosaccharide synthesis, Oxynitrilase and hydroxynitrile lyase for asymmetric cyanohydration, etc…).

LentiKat’s a.s. was founded in April 2006 and its ownership structure only consists in Czech nationals and corporate bodies. Lentikat Biotechnologies is based in Prague (Czech Republic) and has both ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP certification. Management Team is composed by Hana Brodilova, Ludek Karasek, Radek Stloukal, Ludek Pfeifer, Josef Trcka and Pavel Vosoba. Lentikats Biotechnology has patents in dozens of countries worldwide and is involved in several scientific and research projects with leading universities.
