Microgaia Biotech develops functional bioproducts for the agriculture. Indeed, Microgaia offers Trichoderma harzianum T78 concentrated liquid, stimulating plant growth and power, providing it with greater vigor. Furthermore, Microgaia provides functional culture substrates made from waste agricultural biomass, according to the process patented by Microgaia Biotech. Thanks to its suppressive capabilities, Substrate GAIA reduces the need for pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Major Research and Development Projects led by Microgaia Biotech include MYCROPSUBTRATE (a mycological approach to developing a sustainable culture substrate for the production of healthy food) , ALMOST (the first large-scale application and market introduction of a new organic substrate enriched with beneficial fungi), MICROCOAT (microbial technology for coating seeds, focused on the sustainable development of crops) and PYTHOARRAY (development of molecular techniques for rapid detection of pathogens).
Microgaia Biotech is located in the Science Park Murcia (Spain). Management Team is composed by Cristóbal Sánchez, José Pascual, Maria José Inglés and Julio Valero. By Technology Transfer Agreement, and as Spin-off from the CEBAS-CSIC, Microgaia Biotech has laboratories and test areas in the Experimental Farm Santomera.
