Riken Genesis – SNP genotyping

Among advances in the field of genomic, single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) research has attracted a lot of attentions in recent years. SNP genotyping serves as the technological basis to understand the causes of diseases at the genetic level, and is very useful for pharmacogenomic researchers. In order to establish a certain path to the realization of personalized medicine, Riken Genesis is using state-of-the-art technology to explore a total of 6 billion base pairs.

Riken Genesis – SNP genotyping

Riken Genesis

Riken Genesis has developed a robust technology for gene mutation analysis named F-PHFA (FRET-based Preferential Homoduplex Formation Assay). F-PHFA minimizes data inaccuracy caused by manual operation errors in traditional methods, and is used in various application kits provided by Riken Genesis. F-PHFA is a fast method, with only two steps for the analysis, with high data reproducibility and fewer amount of sample required (20 ng). This fully automated, small-scale rapid SNP analysis system was developed in partnership with Toppan Printing with the aim of using it in clinical practice. It is now well introduced in a variety of health care settings.

Riken Genesis provides wide set of tools to analyze SNP genotyping and whole genome genotyping (including 1M-Duo and 610-Quad chips, but also Omni1-Quad and OmniExpress chips) as well as tools for five different animal species, including bovine and equine chips. Riken Genesis also offers methylation analysis services using HumanMethylation450 BeadChips. Riken Genesis is a biotech company established in 2007 and based in Tokyo (Japan). Yusuke TSUKAHARA is Riken Genesis’ CEO and the Scientific Advisory Board is composed by Tatsuhiko TSUNODA, Taisei MUSHIRODA, Kaori MUTO and Gavin SHERLOCK.
